Recycling options for window film installers

In a bid to minimise waste generated by the Australian and New Zealand window film industries, WFAANZ is encouraging tinters to review their recycling plan.

We hope you will join our mission to reduce the carbon footprint of our industry by improving the lifecycle impact of each and every roll of film.

Different council areas and jurisdictions have different approaches to recycling, which is why there is not a blanket solution that applies to all materials.

Here are some repurposing ideas used by creative tinters:

• Use backing sheets for templates (auto)
• For flat glass, use the backing sheets to soften the adhesive on existing film
• Donate cores to a local childcare or school for craft activities
• Use the cores for irrigation systems in the garden

BACKING SHEETS: Comprised of silicone as well as PET, it’s classified as ‘contaminated PET’ and not covered under most local council recycling provisions.
